Have you ever wondered how automatic air fresheners work? After all, they are a fairly popular twist on one of the most traditional ways of cleaning the air. Here is a little bit of information that you can use to begin understanding these interesting and important cleaning aids.
1. What they do. There is one thing that is the same between all air fresheners, regardless of whether they are automatic or one of the more traditional air freshener. That similarity is in what they do, not how they do it. Generally speaking, automatic air fresheners fulfill the same role that all air fresheners do, and that is to spread out some fragrances which will help get rid of, or "mask" offensive odors that may be floating around your home. This is usually accomplished that a fragrance is put into the air, and that it then spread out through the rest of the room.
2. Types of fresheners. There are several different kinds of fresheners that you could use, and all of them work off of the same general principle listed above. While many people may think that all air fresheners come in the form of an aerosol can, that is not the only type that you can use. Some other examples are things like candles, fragrance infused pieces of cardboard or fabric, essential oils, incense and so on.
3. Fresheners vs. purifiers. Unlike what many people think or believe, air fresheners do not actually freshen or purify the air. In essence, all an air freshener is, is little more than a fancy perfume dispenser that puts out some nice smelling fragrances which will hide or mask the offending odors. Purifiers on the other hand, actually do clean the air and make it pure again. This is usually done by removing the offending particles from the air by forcing the air through at least one filter of some sort.
